Margaret River Wine Region is internationally recognized as a premium producer of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay with Moss Wood being well known for it’s Cabernet and the Pinot Noir often flying under the radar. Moss Wood were actually one of the very early adopters in Australia of Pinot and Chardonnay and the quality of these wines has been acclaimed throughout the years. The first plantings on Pinot were done is 1973 with Chardonnay following in 1976.
The great red and white varieties of Burgundy have always been a reference point at Moss Wood, with the wines offering a true sense of place. Those who don’t know about Moss Wood Chardonnay and Moss Wood Pinot are certainly missing out!
The 2017 Moss Wood Chardonnay, only released last week, is classic Margaret River chardonnay. Lifted aromas of peach, lime and quince on a background of roasted nuts, caramel, and soft oak. The palate is bright and generous, crisp, full bodied and has great length. $75 per single or $66 in a half dozen ($399 per six for this week only). Available in limited quantities.
The 2016 Moss Wood Pinot Noir was a favourite at our recently held Pinot Festival. Released only a few weeks back there are only 12 dozen bottles remaining in W.A. A bright, floral nose with a combination of strawberry, cherry and musk, soft oak and earth. The palate offers intense strawberry fruit flavours, medium weight and a good balance of acid and tannin. $69 per single or $62 in a half dozen ($375 per six for this week only). Available in limited quantities.

Previously working for big wineries like Houghtons, in 2009 Paul turned his attention to creating his own, highly boutique wines from the oldest vineyard and cellar door in Denmark. His first year as a go-it-alone winemaker saw his winery listed as a James Halliday Top 10 winery.
