Cravero Parmigiano Reggiano

he Cravero family has been affineurs since 1855 with knowledge that has been handed down from father to son for five generations. The Cravero family cave is located in Bra, the northwest Italian region of Piedmont. It is in this cave that the cheese matures naturally at a constant-temperature environment for a minimum of 24 months. Each wheel is routinely cleaned, flipped and tapped with a small mallet to detect the pitch of ripeness! Pop into the store this weekend and have a taste of this delicious, freshly cracked Parmigiano Reggiano.

We sourced our Yacon from the only Australian grower! Commonly known as the Peruvian Ground Apple - this root vegetable has been dubbed the latest superfood! It can be eaten raw, once the outer skin has been peeled off. It has a sweet crunchy flesh. It can been added to salads or Yacon can also be used in a dessert crumble or pie with apples, pears or choko. The tubers juice well in an electric juicer and can be used to sweeten other juices or used in juice combinations. In cooking they stay sweet and slightly crisp. If boiled 'in the jacket' the skin separates from the flesh and can be peeled off like a boiled egg. Now available in our fresh produce section!

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the juice of fresh olives. Artisanally Distilled Italian Gin

Poli Marconi 46 Gin is an Italian Gin made in the Veneto region of Italy.

Poli are most famous as artisan producers of Grappa. The distillery was founded in 1898 by GioBatta Poli and is located in located in Schiavon, near Bassano del Grappa, in the heart of Veneto. They also have a Grappa Museum in Bassano del Grappa. The company has always produced a range of grappa, brandies and liqueurs to which can be added this fantastic gin.

Poli Marconi 46 Gin is distilled by Jocopi Poli in small batched in Poli’s Crysopea still. The Crysopea still is a truly innovative double boiler vacuum still developed with Poli and the Experimental Centre of the San Michele all’Adige Agricultural Institute. The project began in 2003. As far as I understand it, the vacuum part of the still allows the distillation of the alcohol to take place an a lower temperature than normal which means that more fruity and floral components of the distillate are retained.  The Crysopea still was bought into service in 2015.

The unique identity of Poli Marconi 46 Gin, comes from the botanicals. These are carefully selected and inspired by the Asiago plateau in the north of Veneto where the Poli family comes from. The botanicals include juniper berries (naturally), muscat grapes, cardamon, mint, cirmolo (Pinus cembra or the Swiss Pine), creeping pine (Pinus Mugo or dwarf mountainpine) and coriander. Seven botanicals in total.

Why is it called Marconi 46 Gin? Well, it is named after the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi, one of the pioneers of radio transmission, it is bottled at 46% abv and the distillery is located at 46 Marconi Street in Schiavon.
