Bondar, McLaren Vale tasting with winemaker Andre Bondar

Wednesday, 23 October 2019 6 pm

17th Oct 2019 | Tasting & Events

Winners of James Hallidays 2017 Australian Wine Companion’s Best New Winery, Bondar is the baby of husband-and-wife team Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly. They have purchased the famous Rayner vineyard in McLaren Vale, crafting stunning Shiraz and Grenache from here, along with Beautifully pure Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.

"Bondar's aim is to produce bright, pretty grenache, largely by earlier picking - which was easy in the cool '17 vintage, but more difficult in '18. A raspberry, cherry-accented bouquet, the palate following suit. Its overall freshness is exceptional." 96 points, James Halliday, The Australian "Spicy, bright, raspberry, potpourri and Turkish Delight. Medium-bodied, very fresh and spritely, crisp and sweet raspberry and cranberry, clean acidity and a light rasp of tannin, garden herbs and a juicy finish of excellent length. Brightness and energy here, and while it's perhaps a bit too perky now, is sure to settle and improve with some bottle age." 94 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Open to Taste:
Bondar Fiano 2019
Bondar Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2018
Bondar Rose 2019
Bondar Violet Hour Shiraz 2018
