Locally Grown Leeks

12th Jun 2022 | Fresh Produce

Leeks are a pretty under-utilised vegetable. In soups, stews or in place of onion, they add a different taste and texture. Leeks have a subtle, mild onion flavor so they're delicious on their own, too. Grilled leeks soften and collapse slightly with a smokey char when they hit the grill. Plus, they get those pretty dark lines. You could serve them as they are, straight from the grill. But they're incredible brightened with the squeeze of lemon juice and given a salty rich flavor from the parmesan. Leeks are wonderfully delicious on their own especially when they are grilled up to perfection

Achacha

Grown in Townsville, Queensland

8th Mar 2022 | Fresh Produce

The Achacha is a highly prized tropical fruit. It has been cultivated for many years in small holdings and domestic orchards in Bolivia’s Amazon Basin. In its home country it is known as achachairú, however given the Aussie propensity for abbreviation, the last three letters have been dropped and the name Achacha adopted – think of the dance and add an A in front.

Delicious, refreshing, exotic, tangy, effervescent . . . no wonder the name translates as “honey kiss”! It is refreshing to eat at ambient temperature, when served cold, or
even frozen. There is a fine balance between its sweetness and its acidity, creating a unique taste sensation. It has exotic appeal similar to the mangosteen, longan, rambutan and lychee.

Now available from our produce department.
